Nachdem die kanadische Band „Staggered Crossing“ (auch bekannt unter dem Namen „StagX“) von 1999 bis 2001 drei Jahre beim Plattenlabel „Warner Music“ unter Vertrag stand, hat sie sich dem Indie-Label „Bent Penny Records“ angeschlossen und später das Album „Burgundy & Blue“ unter einer Creative Commons-Lizenz auf Jamendo.com veröffentlicht. Ein relativ ungewöhnlicher Schritt, denn normalerweise läuft dieses Prozedere in der umgekehrten Reihenfolge ab.
Die Gruppe um den Sänger Julian Taylor scheint in Kanada grosse Bekanntheit erlangt zu haben; nicht umsonst haben sie ihren eigenen Eintrag in der englischsprachigen Wikipedia.
Im Jahr 2007 wurde das Quartett aus Toronto jedoch aufgelöst und der Sänger Julian Taylor, der Bassgitarrist Dan Black, der Schlagzeuger Jeremy Elliott und der Gitarrist David E.G. Marshall gingen von da an ihre eigenen Wege.
Der Titel, welchen ich euch heute von StagX vorstelle, ist sicher nicht ein typischer Song für die Band. Aber als ich ihn das erste Mal gehört habe, dachte ich mir, dass er eines Musiktipps würdig ist.
